We go above and beyond to exceed the standards required by law, ensuring our Spectator Safety delivery and training programmes provide sports stadiums and event venues with the most up-to-date and enhanced training to guarantee the safety of everyone within the venue.

There are qualifications from Level 2 to Level 4, with training routes available to train Safety Stewards, Safety Supervisors, and Stadium Managers.

Safety and Event Stewards

This qualification enables learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding of being a Safety and Event Steward.

The training combines theory and practical assessment in the role. A flexible approach to delivery is available, with some of the theory training available to study from home. The qualification consists of five units of study, including:

  • Prepare for spectator events
  • Assist with the movement of spectators and deal with crowd issues at events
  • Help to manage and resolve conflicts
  • Deal with incidents at spectator events
  • Support the work of your team and organisation

SAFETY SUPERVISORS

This qualification enables learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding of being a Safety Supervisor.  

The training combines theory and practical assessment in the role. A flexible approach to delivery is available, with some of the theory training available to study from home. The qualification comprises five mandatory units and two optional Units.

  • Manage and maintain stewarding in designated areas
  • Manage information for action and decision-making for spectator events
  • Develop and sustain productive working relationships with stakeholders
  • Monitor and solve customer services problems

Optional Units

Optional Units

Learners complete an additional two relevant optional units from the following to further enhance their supervisory skills:

  • Help to manage and resolve conflicts
  • Deal with incidents at spectator events
  • Manage resources for safety and security at spectator events
  • Develop and sustain productive working relationships with stakeholders
  • Develop your knowledge, skills, and competence

STADIUM MANAGER / SAFETY OFFICER

This qualification enables learners with the knowledge, skills, and understanding of being  a Stadium Manager / Safety Officer and allows them to demonstrate competency in Spectator Safety Management. 

The training combines theory and practical assessment in the role. A flexible approach to delivery is available, with some of the theory training available to study from home. The qualification comprises eight mandatory units and three optional units.

  • Plan for the safety of people at spectator events
  • Manage the safety and security of people at spectator events
  • Develop, implement and review policies and procedures for safety and security at spectator events
  • Manage information for action and decision-making for spectator events
  • Manage resources for safety and security at events
  • Manage risks in crowded places
  • Manage initial response to significant or major incidents and plan for resilience
  • Work with others to improve customer services

Learners will also complete three extra relevant optional units from the following to further enhance their management skills:
  • Monitor and solve customer service problems
  • Recruit, select and retain people
  • Support individuals’ learning and development
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of your work in your area of responsibility
  • Develop your knowledge, skills and competence
  • Manage projects
  • Develop and sustain productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
