This training teaches a variety of emergency care techniques that can help save lives and reduce the severity of injuries in various scenarios during a first aid training programme. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond to a variety of emergency situations and provide the best possible care to those in need.
The training combines theory and practical assessment in the role. A flexible approach to delivery is available, with some of the theory training available to study from home.
AVAILABLE COURSES
Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)
Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work
(1 day)
Level 3 First Aid at Work (3 days)
Level 3 First Aid at Work
(3 days)
This qualification is delivered over three days, with blended first aid at work course is with 1 day classroom or e-learning and 2 further days in the classroom completing the practical skills. This course is suitable for high-risk workplaces and includes CPR and defibrillator training. Learners will be issued an accredited first aid certificate valid for 3 years.
Haemorrhagic Bleeding: Catastrophic Bleed and Airway Management (1 day)
This training is classroom-based include Airway Management and Catastrophic Bleed and will advise on the inherent dangers associated with the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings, whilst administering first aid in a high-risk environment for the purpose of saving life. The classroom-based workshop will address the use of different types of airways.
The workshops have been developed to meet the requirements of industries that consider themselves to be at high risk following a suitable and sufficient risk assessment. They will equip learners with the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise on how to apply a tourniquet and haemostatic dressings and how to manage an airway in the event of an emergency.
Syllabus
The workshop is made up of theoretical sessions delivered by the instructor who will provide a detailed course programme. A range of subjects are covered including:
Session 1 - Catastrophic Bleed
Session 1 - Catastrophic Bleed

- Recognising a catastrophic external bleed
- Catastrophic external bleed control measures
- Casualty aftercare
- Dangers of the incorrect use of tourniquets and haemostatic products

Level 2 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (1 day)
Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year and many could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. According to a recent UK Government report, it is estimated that approximately 60,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually in the UK and survival rates across England vary widely, from 2% to 12%. However, when Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation are administered quickly, survival rates can reach as high as 75%. Consequently, the statutory guidance on supporting pupils with medical conditions recommends that schools consider including an Automated External Defibrillation (AED) in their first-aid equipment.
AEDs are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and workplaces and a casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and there are appropriately qualified personnel to use it.
